Service User Group Discussion: Working Together for a Better HIV Service

Working Together for a Better HIV Service

Service user group discussion Monday 1st July 5pm

@ Positive Help (139 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4JY)

About this project

This is a project to find out about the similarities and differences between the HIV clinics at Chalmers centre and RIDU. We would also like to find out about how service users (patients) might be affected if the clinics at Chalmers and RIDU were to work more closely.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to speak to any person aged 16 or over who is living with HIV in Lothian and who attends Chalmers or RIDU for their HIV care.

What will happen?

The service user will be invited to take part in a group discussion (called a focus group) with other service users who are taking part. During the discussion the group will be asked questions by the project lead Sarah. The group discussion will take place at Positive Help and will be about 60 minutes long.

Will what I say be kept private? Can I stop if I want to?

It is your choice if you would like to take part. The discussion can be stopped at any time and your information removed. Sarah will keep what you say private (confidential) and not share it with anyone without your permission (consent).

We may use your words for the interview to help other people understand the views of HIV service users in Lothian. This would be anonymous, no one would know they were your words and we’d use a pseudonym (fake name). If you do not want to answer any questions or want to stop taking part, please let us know and we will respect your choice.

Will you keep what I say safe?

Sarah will record what is being said in the focus group so that she can listen back to it to make sure she understands it. Only Sarah will get to listen to the recording. The recording will be kept in a laptop that has a strong password which only they know. Anything that is written and recorded will be kept safe.

How do I take part?

If you want to take part in this project please come along on Monday 1st July at 5pm to Positive Help. If you would like more information then please speak to the member of staff who has given you this information sheet or contact Sarah directly (see below).

Travel expenses

Your travel expenses will be reimbursed. You will be given a travel expenses form to complete on the day. Tea/coffee/buffet snacks will be provided.
